“The Gatsby Benchmarks.” A term that’s being thrown around and spoken about a lot in the education sector right now. But what are they?
The Gatsby Benchmarks have been adopted by the government in their new Careers Strategy and new statutory guidance for careers. They consist of eight guidelines that promote high-class careers guidance so students can make informed decisions about their future.
They act as a skeleton and base for schools to shape and propel their careers education, information and guidance – and have been seen as something necessary for the UK’s schools and colleges due to CEIAG often criticised for being inadequate and lacking.
At Springpod, we want all students to achieve their dream destination and thus effective and high-class CEIAG is at the heart of everything we do. See how Springpod can help you meet those all-important guidelines below.
1. A stable careers programme
Through bringing together the student, the school and the employer all on one platform, Springpod is a holistic solution that enables you to solidify a careers programme that helps inform students about future options, enables interaction with industries and facilitates connections with live opportunities. Our reliable destination data stimulates informed CEIAG and creates a stable careers strategy for your institution.
2. Learning from career and labour market information
Springpod gives students access to reliable and relevant information in a slick and easy-to-consume form. Through data from LMI For All and a library full of careers pulled from the National Careers Service, Springpod is bursting at the seams with pertinent, interesting data to allow students to throw themselves into the nitty-gritty.
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
The entire Springpod experience is tailored and personalised, right from the get-go of creating a personal profile all the way to granular destination data that enables you to understand your student body better than ever before. You are also able to interpret student interest data, gaining information on the career paths and companies floating students’ boat.
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
Through curriculum-focussed webinars and collaborative lesson plans with top STEM companies, Springpod helps build the bridge between academic structure and the world of work.
5. Encounters with employers and employees
Springpod supports this benchmark through facilitating employer encounters within the virtual world. Company representatives on the platform add testimonials and answer questions from students, establishing connections. Our webinars, hosted through STEMtalks, also offer opportunities for students to get one step closer to icons and employers within the STEM world.
6. Experiences of workplaces
Through Springpod, students can search for and apply for work experience placements. Through their Career Progress Tracker, students are prompted to apply for work experience in career paths and companies they are interested in when the opportunities pop up. Students can also record work experience they have found outside of the platform, onto the platform, becoming a comprehensive overview of their workplace involvement.
7. Encounters with further and higher education
Connecting students with higher education is a feature coming soon to the platform, where will be providing links with universities the same way that we do with apprenticeships.
8. Personal guidance
Through Springpod, one-to-one meetings can be much more personalised and productive using our data and stats from a student’s interaction with the platform, enabling bespoke CEIAG with click of a finger.
